Jalaluddin Rumi said, “Beautiful days do not come to you/ you must walk towards them.” If you aspire to do some great things, remember that great things cannot be achieved through sentimental approach. They can be achieved through a series of small things put together systematically.

Even after 75 years of Independence, in this most populous and democratic country, the 20 crore Muslims are continuously facing unlimited difficulties and problems. These difficulties have become more complicated since the RSS supported BJP came to power. Their many affiliates like VHP, Bajrang Dal etc. are also in this hate game. The ruling BJP’s policies are based on anti-Muslim hatred. The recently passed Waqf Amendment Act 2025 is a powerful weapon to undermine the interests of Muslims and to deprive them of their mosques and educational institutions. BJP has almost succeeded in making Muslims politically irrelevant.

Muslims are about 15% of India’s population. There should have been at least 82 Muslim MPs in Lok Sabha’s 542 members. They are only 26. Same is the case in Rajya Sabha.

Next, consider the case of UP Assembly. In 2011 Census, Muslims were 19.3% in UP. Out of 403 MLAs, the Muslims should have been at least 80. But in the last Assembly election in 2022, only 36 Muslims were elected. Renowned French researcher Christophe Jaffrelot has documented the Muslim deprivation in India’s Parliament, State Assemblies, Central and State government jobs, judiciary, primary to higher education, military and paramilitary forces. This deprivation is visible in citizenship rights, social status, and equality before law.

The ruling party and other communal and fascist forces are foremost in promoting hatred, spreading enmity and fomenting communal disorder. Unfortunately, some sections of judiciary which have to protect the Constitution and uphold the rule of law are not doing their duty in the case of Muslims.

Now Muslims are under attack, tomorrow it would be Christians, Buddhists and other weaker and voiceless sections. Therefore, the Muslims must adopt a strategy to join hands with all democratic forces to thwart the obnoxious communal propaganda. They should promote an ambience of justice, love, equality and cooperation.

Muslims have been the recipients of the Last Testament of Almighty God, the Holy Quran, and they have a duty towards all Indians. They believe in Almighty Allah as the Lord of entire mankind. Besides, the Last Testament of God, the Holy Quran, was given to them as a message to be spread among all human beings without any discrimination. It is they who have been entrusted to announce that the whole mankind is one, God is one and all Messengers had brought the same message. By soliciting cooperation of all well-meaning citizens, they should wholeheartedly promote good and discourage and defeat evil. They should counter social ills and all sorts of prejudices and hate. This will give security and protection to Muslims also. This should be the goal of Muslims to live and let live and protect and promote the whole nation of 145 crore people.

This struggle requires sacrifice and use of all peaceful methods to fight with immorality, social ills and financial corruption. This initially requires sound moral character, freedom from all prejudices and love and respect for one and all.

In this alone lies the welfare of citizens and protection of the nation. This is not against any section or person. This is only against all that is bad, prohibited and immoral.
