The surface to surface medium range Ballistic Missile Agni-II was successfully test-fired from Balasore Integrated Test Range on May 19. This Missile was inducted into the Army in 2004. The Agni-II can take a payload of up to one tonne. The 20 metre long Missile has been developed by the DRDO’s Advanced Systems Laboratory at Hyderabad. According to the ITR sources this Missile is a part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development. Both of the levels of Agni-II use solid fuel that facilitates the movement as well as the rotation of the Missile. It has a range of 2000 kms that can be further enhanced up to 3000 kms.
