AIDMK organised a huge rally and a protest march on 6 November, 2012 in Chennai demanding complete ban on alcoholic substances in the state. Senior leader of the party, R Masih, said to the reporters that without banning alcoholic substances we cannot expect a better future in the country. He further said that an alcoholic spends usually hundred rupees a day on liquor; that means he spends 5 lakh 25 thousand on it in five years. What the government earns from him in five years is equal to 15 thousand.  “That is not a fair deal as far as the country is concerned,” he said. It is important to note that alcohol is banned only in Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.
