Since its inauguration by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on November 20, 2011, 300-bed super specialty hospital Al-Shifa in Abul Fazl Enclave, Jamia Nagar, a deprived area of Delhi, has provided service to 66,461 patients. This was revealed by the hospital management on the completion of its one year. Established with the purpose to serve the local residents, financially weak patients have to pay Rs 50 for consultation.
Easily reachable hospital had a successful year. In the last one year, 597 surgery cases were tackled. Also, 287 delivery cases were successfully managed by one-year-old hospital. Besides, providing quality service, the hospital also organised ten medical camps. With the passage of time the hospital has plans to improve service further and add more facilities. International organisations too have shown keen interest in working with the hospital. They have assisted Al-Shifa in holding free medical camps. Recently, an UK-based NGO gifted an ambulance to the hospital.
