In a letter to Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of UP, All India Milli Council supported the UP government’s decision to bring in legislation to release innocent Muslim youth implicated in terror cases. The letter further says that the ban of SIMI is unjustified and picking up of innocent youths in the name of fighting terrorism must be stopped. The letter demands closure of all cases under the now defunct TADA and POTA, and says compensation should be awarded mandatorily to all persons acquitted of terrorist offences. The letter further demands a comprehensive law providing for reparation for victims and punishment for wrongful prosecutions.
