Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani welcomed the recent Allahabad High Court verdict, calling it a firm warning against arbitrary policing of prayers on private land. He described the judgment as a clear reaffirmation of the constitutional right to religious freedom under Article 25.

Madani said several incidents in recent years, especially in Uttar Pradesh, involved police action against people for offering prayers or holding religious gatherings. He said authorities registered FIRs and made arrests even when worship remained peaceful. He added that such actions created fear among citizens who followed the law.

He said the court ruling restores constitutional clarity. He said fundamental rights remain protected under the Constitution and administrative discretion has limits. He added that the right to worship stands guaranteed and the State lacks authority to curtail it without lawful grounds.

With the month of Ramadan nearing, Madani urged the Uttar Pradesh police to respect the spirit of the verdict. He said people should perform religious duties without fear or obstruction. He also advised community leaders and organisers to keep copies of the judgment for reference during interactions with authorities.

Madani reiterated the commitment of the Jamiat to peace, social harmony, and the rule of law. He stressed that constitutional rights require vigilance and consistent protection.
