On a visit to AMU along with a high power five-member team, Professor Dato Dr. MuhamadMuda, Vice Chancellor, Islamic Science University of Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aligarh Muslim University. While addressing a function at AMU Prof. Muhamad said, “The world economic system is facing a tremendous change and western experts’ theories are now exploring adoption of the principles of Islamic banking. Our educational system is based on Islamic system of knowledge and the west is now accepting the Islamic concept of business and management as the most viable system for a prosperous and happier world”. He said that AMU is an historic institution of India that has produced a number of luminaries in various fields andobserved that Islamic Science University of Malaysia and the AMU share a lot in common and there is limitless prospect for cooperation and collaboration in the fields of higher education and research. He desired that a joint a graduate programme be initiated accommodating students from both the countries, India and Malaysia so that they may get an international exposure and training.

Welcoming the visiting team, Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis said that India and Malaysia share a close cultural, democratic and secular affinity as both the countries vouch for the international cooperation and tolerance for a peaceful and fraternal world. He said that the great ethos of social justice and secular tradition toe them together in a rope of fraternal unity.Prof. Azis said AMU has taken initiative in providing business and management education in Islamic Banking and it would be benefited with the experiences and training of Islamic Science University of Malaysia in this field that has taken roots in the Malaysian economic system.The Memorandum of Understanding was to establish, promote and develop direct cooperation and collaboration in the field of research, education and in training programmes of mutual interest. The focus will be on exchange of researchers, staff and students along with exchange of scholarly and pedagogic materials.

The Memorandum of Understanding also covers transfer of students, joint researches, and technical assistance/training facilitating admissions of Malaysian students in AMU and Indian students to Islamic Science University of Malaysia.The MoU will come into immediate effect and will remain in force for a period of five years subject to its extension for a further period based on mutual agreement between the two universities.

The Islamic Science University of Malaysia is one of the most reputed institutions established in 1997 as Islamic University College of Malaysia upgraded to Islamic Science University of Malaysia in 2007.The unique feature of Islamic Science University of Malaysia is that it blends Islamic studies into the national educational mainstream and emphasizes the use of Information technology in educational system.
