After severe clashes between two student groups on April 29 and on the basis of the report received from district administration and in view of the unfortunate incident, the Aligarh Muslim University, including its Senior Secondary Schools, has been closed sine-die with immediate effect on April 30.
AMU Registrar, Prof. V. K. Abdul Jaleel, while issuing the notice said that all the students have been ordered to vacate their hostels within 48 hours.
According to a notification of assistant controller (examinations), all examinations from April 30 have been postponed. Further date will be announced later.
Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, the vice chancellor assured the students that the University will be reopened within a short time and all examinations will be rescheduled. He said that it will be ensured that no academic loss of the students takes place.
The student union has urged the vice chancellor to revoke the order so that there would not be academic loss of the students.
