The Aligarh Muslim University Lawyers Forum, on 1 December, visited the riot hit area of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and assured the victims of fighting for them a legal battle in the court. Mohd. Aslam Khan, president of the Forum, stated that the forum has constituted a coordination committee consisting of lawyers from Lucknow, Allahabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli and Baghpat. The forum announced that the member of the coordination committee will be available in almost all the cities to help the victims in courts of law.
Meanwhile, several social and non-governmental organisations are busy doing relief work in the area and thousands of persons are yet to leave relief camps. The chilling cold is creating obstacles in relief work and there is news of dozens succumbing to the cold in camps.
