Former Chairman, Department of Modern Indian Languages, A.M.U. Dr. Tiimir Baran Chakraborty has been awarded prestigious Rahila Literary Award 2010. Chakraborty is also a renowned writer, folklorist, poet and critic. The award was conferred to him by Justice Shyamal Kumar Sen, Ex-Chief Justice of Allahabad and Calcutta High Courts, in recognition of the Professor’s literary and creative contribution spanning over 30 years. Chakraborty has authored more than 17 books including one on the Life and Works of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in Bengali. His 40 research papers and more than 80 articles have been published in National and International journals. The award is instituted by Rahila Sanskriti Sangha, West Bengal, which carries a medal, memento, citation with a shawl. It is given every year in recognition of the contribution to the Bengali Literature.
