The Directorate General, National Cadet Corps, Ministry of Defence, Government of India has decided to bestow upon Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, the honorary rank of “Colonel” in the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
Lt. General Prakash S. Chaudhary, Director General of NCC informed the AMU Vice Chancellor that in the armed forces, the Colonel of regiment is an honour normally conferred upon distinguished and very senior officers and hoped that this appointment will bring him in still close contact with the NCC units in the University and enable him to interact with officers and cadets to help and guide them to uphold the idea of the NCC. The honorary Colonel rank will be presented in a special function.
