The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis was on June 25 conferred the honorary rank of Colonel Commandant on behalf of Director General of NCC. Before conferring the honorary rank, NCC Cadets of boys and girls presented a Guard of Honour to Prof. Azis. Addressing a function, Prof. Azis thanked Colonel A. K. Singh and entire NCC staff for conferring honorary rank of Colonel Commandant. He said he had been an active NCC cadet during his school and college days. His spirit as ex-cadet is very much alive and gets reflected in his soul and mind even today.

Colonel R. K. Gill, Officer Commanding of 1 UP Engineering Company NCC, AMU said NCC was introduced in the University 60 years back. Since then both the organisations have forged ahead and boast of numerous laurels achieved with mutual cooperation with particular reference to career enhancement of NCC cadets from the University. He hoped that the appointment of Vie Chancellor as Honorary Colonel Commandant will further strengthen the existing bond and better coordination of NCC Training and Cadets of the University particularly its dedicated involvement in career enhancement of students-cum-cadets.
