SYYED MANSOOR AGHA analyses the Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik’s manifesto linking him with Hindutva and shows how Saffron tentacles have contributed to violation of world peace.
Last Friday (July 22, 2011) Europe was rocked by deadliest terror attack in Norway. A powerful bomb blast ripped into Government offices, including Prime Minister’s office in capital Oslo, killing seven persons and injuring over a dozen. Windowpanes were shattered and smoke rose high in the sky. Had it not been a public holiday, causality might have been much higher.
Hours after bomb blasts shattered the calm of Oslo, a man dressed in police uniform, arrived at Utoeya Island, 50 kilometres from the Norwegian capital, by ferry. Heavily armed with fire weapons, including at least one submachine gun and a rifle, he beckoned to some of the 550 young people attending a summer camp organised by the youth wing of the ruling Labour Party. “Come here,” he said, claiming he was performing a routine security check. Once a sizeable group had gathered before him, the man described as a typical Norwegian with an eastern Norwegian accent said this was just the beginning and opened fire killing 68 campers, aged between 15 and 25 years including Trond Berntsen, step brother of Norwegian Princess Mette-Marit.
Initial reports of the horror event reported, “The man arrested in connection with the Utoeya Island shooting was named as Anders Behring Breivik, 32, a Norwegian national. He described himself as a conservative Christian and was reported to have links to the far-Right.”
Shortly after the tragedy a website (rt.com) flashed a story titled “Anywhere is a target for Al-Qaeda” that read:
“… experts suggested reasons for why calm Norway has been targeted. Norway’s involvement in NATO’s operations and Mohamed cartoons were among the likeliest reasons. Mark Almond said Norway’s involvement in NATO’s actions in Libya and Afghanistan is among main reasons.
“The most likely explanation is that Norway’s involvement as a NATO member in various armed actions from Libya to Afghanistan will have been the basis for some backlash,” Almond told RT. “Now whether this backlash comes from a Libyan group or more generally from an Islamic group which is hostile to the region, NATO involvement is obviously a reason.”
Researcher Robin Simcox suggested that Norway could have become a target for organisations like Al-Qaeda. “This wasn’t a country that people regarded as being especially likely to be hit – which also just reconfirms that this type of terrorism is indiscriminate in who it targets, and it goes to show that really anywhere is a target for the likes of Al-Qaeda.
“The attacks could be easily linked to Norwegian foreign policy or to Mohamed cartoons reprinted recently in a Norwegian paper,” Danish journalist Helle Brix told RT. “There have been many protests connected with these cartoons, both in Denmark and in Norway alike.
“European governments, as well as the Norwegian one, have to rethink the frame of multiculturalism. We have seen that several times – in New York on 9/11, in London, in Copenhagen,” the journalist told RT.
Same day another brief news broke out on the web pages claiming:
“An unknown mail claimed the attacks were “revenge” for Norway’s engagement in Afghanistan, but last night Norwegian police said the attack did not appear to be the work of any Jihadist group.”
Read between the lines and feel consorted and calculated effort of demonising Muslim names, continuance of hatred campaign against Muslims and Islam, lashed out by US-Zionist syndicate and allies.
This tactic is freely employed by Indian media to divert the attention of police and public from real terrorists and detain and defame Muslims. Several “Jihadi” groups, like IM and HuJI, are creation of this tactic. So the Indian media, particularly electronic, picked the thread gleefully. Catch of their imagination developed story after story of heinous atrocities attributed to Al-Qaida and likes. The fact that the man arrested red-handed by the police, swears to far-right extremist Christian philosophy, was swept away.
Next day national media of Norway confirmed his strong anti-Muslim views. Details of his ‘hate-Muslim’ ideology and activities are pouring in daily. Details of his postings on facebook and twitter revealed his anti-Muslim agenda. The Sun reported (28/7):
“MASS murderer Anders Breivik emailed some of Britain’s most notorious far right extremists just over an hour before he launched his massacre. The Muslim-hating fanatic, 32, sent his warped “manifesto” to 1,003 contacts as he prepared for the bomb and gun horror that claimed 76 lives in Norway on Friday. Chillingly, he signed the email – which warned Europe would be “overwhelmed” by Islam – under an English name: “Andrew Berwick, London, England.”
Excerpts of his manifesto (running over 1500 pages) published on internet are really chilling. He has devoted some hundred pages to India to target Muslims’ history of Medieval India and to abundantly admire the nastiest ideology of proponent of Hindutva and referred to their fascist policies extensively. While criticising Muslim rulers and invasions, he forgot the lessons from European history. He wrote:
“On the Indian subcontinent the history is tragic indeed, that’s where the Hindu holocaust took place in medieval times, a little-known episode in the history of Islam in the Western world, but one that left a deep traumatic mark on the people of the region.”
He claimed that mountain range in eastern Afghanistan known as “Hindu Kush” means “Hindu Slaughter” and that it was given “by Muslim conquerors, as a lesson to the future generations of Indians.”
He lambasts, “If the name Hindu Kush relates such a horrible genocide of Hindus, why are Hindus ignorant about it? And why doesn’t the Government of India teach them about Hindu Kush?” Speaking the language of Sangh Parivar, he blames the Indian government, “Instead of giving details of this “dark chapter” in Indian history, (Government) is busy in the whitewash of Muslim atrocities and the Hindu holocaust.” He further writes: “In 1982, the NCERT issued a directive for the rewriting of school texts. Among other things it stipulated that “characterisation of the medieval period as a time of conflict between Hindus and Moslems is forbidden”. Thus denial of history or negationism has become India’s official “educational” policy.
Admiring the idea of “Hindu nationalism”, he writes: “Saffronisation is a political neologism (after the saffron robes of the Hindu clerics), used to refer to the policy of right-wing Hindu nationalism (or Hindutva) which seeks to make the Indian state into a “Hindu nation” and its Sikh, Buddhist and Jain minorities incorporated into Hinduism. These nationalist movements are also called Sanatana Dharma movements.
“A related term, the Saffron Brigade, is used as a descriptor of people and organisations in India that promote Hindu nationalism such as the Sangh Parivar by their critics, who allege a militant Hindu agenda. The Sanatana Dharma movements or Hindu nationalists in general are suffering from the same persecution by the Indian cultural Marxists as their European cousins.”
Admiring NDA for Hindutva, he criticises the UPA and repeats the same arguments of Sangh Privar of “Muslim appeasement”. I quote, “The UPA relies on appeasing Muslims and very sadly proselytising Christian missionaries who illegally convert low-caste Hindus with lies and fear, alongside Communists who want total destruction of the Hindu faith and culture.”
Exhorting Hindus for adopting aggressive policy, he writes: “The irony in India is that the Hindus who are living abroad (expatriate Hindus) are more concerned about Hindu culture than the ones in India, because from abroad, they can get an eagle’s view of what’s happening in India while Indian Hindu residents don’t see it being on the scene.
“The only positive thing about the Hindu right wing is that they dominate the streets. They do not tolerate the current injustice and often riot and attack Muslims when things get out of control, usually after the Muslims disrespect and degrade Hinduism too much. This behaviour is nonetheless counterproductive. Because instead of attacking the Muslims they should target the category A and B traitors in India and consolidate military cells and actively seek the overthrow of the cultural Marxist government.
“India will continue to wither and die unless the Indian nationalists consolidate properly and strike to win. It is essential that the European and Indian resistance movements learn from each other and cooperate as much as possible. Our goals are more or less identical.”
Declaring his support to Sangh Privar, he declares, “The PCCTS, Knights Templar support the Sanatana Dharma movements and Indian nationalists in general.”
He also spewed venom against Muslim refugees from war torn Iraq and Afghanistan and migrant labourers. Spread over several hundred pages, his manifesto is in headlines.
Unprecedented terror attack and the philosophy of the perpetrator has stunned Europe and stung the saffron brigade in India. Ram Madhav, a top leader of RSS took pains to delink Breivik from Sangh ideology. He wrote on his blog: “Insinuate that Breivik was inspired by the Hindutva, propaganda is misleading and motivated.” Breivik has discussed Hindutva in detail in his document and had praised the fascist ideology generously. In such a case Ram Madhav needs to elaborate his inference. How can he do without motivation the same act as many Pracharaks of Sangh are found doing here in India? Breivik is not only admirer of but motivated from Hindutva to the extent that he translated the teachings of Saffron ideologues in practice. He has done more than lip service. He took a leaf of lesson from Sunil Joshi, Swami Aseemannad, Sadhvi Pragya Singh and other swayamsevaks and went ahead to kill innocent people. A new name of Mr. Indresh Kumar is also expected to be added, in this star studded list soon. Media reports suggest that NIA is preparing to grill him. To conclude a quote from a report on english.samaylive.com:
“Earlier, Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik hailed India’s Hindu nationalist movement as a key ally in a global struggle to bring down democratic regimes across the world.
India figures in a remarkable 102 pages of the sprawling 1,518-page manifesto. Breivik’s manifesto says his Justiciar Knights “support the Sanatana Dharma movements and Indian nationalists in general”. He explains that Hindu nationalists “are suffering from the same persecution by the Indian cultural Marxists as their European cousins”.
