In a tragic incident, a teacher of a government Urdu High School in Andhra Pradesh died under suspicious circumstances after three students attacked him in the classroom.

Ejaz Ahmed, 45, was so upset after the students beat him up in the classroom that he suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed in the school. He was rushed to a hospital by other teachers; by then he had breathed his last.

The incident occurred at Zilla Parishad Urdu High School, at Kothapalle of Rayachoti Mandal in Annamayya district on December 4.

Ahmed, a science teacher, was asking students to maintain calm in the classroom, and in the process, he reportedly chided a batch of students. Angry over this, three students pounced on the teacher and reportedly punched him in the chest.

The teacher went to the staff room as he felt uneasy. As he started to collapse, his fellow teachers took him to a private hospital but the doctors there declared him dead.

Ahmed’s wife Raheemoon, who is also a teacher at another government school in the same district, blamed students and some teachers for his death. She said some teachers had instigated students to attack her husband. The family members said they found injury marks on his body.

Police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and took up further investigation. A police officer said further action would be taken based on the post-mortem report and the inquiry findings.
