Recently, in a report produced by the Lokayukta, another minister of Mayawati’s government is found guilty. Badshah Singh, Labour Minister from UP, was served with a notice by UP Lokayukta’s Justice N. K. Mehrotra. The Lokayukta has alleged that Singh is illegally occupying government’s land. Now the big question is that what the BSP supremo Mayawati will do, as she already has suspended two of her ministers after Lokayukta’s indictment. But it should be clear that the act of suspension is done at the time when elections are round the corner. May be she wants to portray the image of a clean and justice loving leader in the upcoming elections?
Akhilesh Upadhyaya, a farmer has alleged that Badshah Singh has illegally occupied one third of the 14,000 hectare land, which was originally reserved for the construction of a government hospital in the district and has built a double storied commercial complex.
The two ministers indicted by the Lokayukta before Badshah Singh are Rajesh Tripathi and Awadhpal Singh Yadav. This growing number of corrupt ministers is indicating that a majority of the ministers are using their powers otherwise and are trying to amass maximum they can in the limited tenure they have.
