A proselyte Mohammad Yaseen has been arrested in Patna for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Muslims through his writings. It is alleged that in his book Islam Shura Ya Bey Imani Ka Panchnama he has used a foul language and denigrated Islam and Islamic personalities. The circulation of this book has created tension in Patna. As soon as the news reached Maulana Abdullah Bukhari, the Imam of Monger Jamia Mosque, he immediately contacted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and apprised him of the contents of the book. He also requested the Chief Minister to take appropriated action against the author. Acting on his request, Mr. Nitish Kumar directed Minority Welfare Minister Shahid Ali Khan, Chairman of Minorities Commission Mr. Naushad Ahmad, Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah and DGP Gautam to look into the matter. In the night of January 14 the police raided the house of Mohammad Yaseen but he was found absconding. The police picked up his wife Neelofar for interrogation. However, nothing was found against her. So, later in the evening she was released. In a dramatic turn of events her husband i.e. the controversial writer Mohammad Yaseen surrendered before police station. The City Superintendent of Police Anwar Husain found Yaseen guilty of hurting the sentiments of Muslims and registered a case against him and sent him to police custody.
