Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) filed cases against two Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel for illegally entering a home at Bartaha, Araria, Bihar and trying to molest the women therein on December 20, 2010. When the neighbours gathered at the alarm raised by the besieged women, the two SSB personnel hid themselves in tents nearby.
The SSB personnel fired 24 round of bullets on villagers the next morning and killed three people of one family and injured two others. The SSB personnel even killed one more person the next morning when he was going to buy medicines for the injured persons.
When the time lapsed, action against these SSB personnel seemed feeble. But APCR took this matter seriously and decided to bring these erring SSB personnel to justice by filing cases against them.
When a delegate of APCR comprising Assitant Ameer Jamaat Islami Hind Bihar Nayyaruzzama, Ameer e Muqami Mohammed Hasan, Abdul Ahad Khan and Hashim Raza on December 27, 2010 called on the police department and high rank officers, they took a sigh of relief that the culprits will soon be identified and brought to book. A compensation of R20,000 was given to the victims.
Though the promises of giving compensation of one lakh is yet to be fulfilled, four SSB personnel are in custody and the police is searching three more SSB personnel who ran away after the incident.
APCR has sent the report to all the human rights commissions seeking justice for these villagers who were inhumanly and brutally killed and for those rendered injured in firing.
