Swami Asimanand, who is wanted in the Malegaon and Ajmer Dargah blasts, has come under the scanner of the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terror Squad in the Kanpur blast case in which two Bajrang Dal activists were killed on August 25, 2008. The police have been trying to solve the case for the last two years in which Rajiv Mishra and Bhupinder Singh were killed when an explosion busted in a room owned by Mishra’s father. After the blast, the police found timers, remains of explosives, grenade shells and other stuff used for making bombs but no clues to the source of that material.
However, new details disclosed by the ATS of Maharashtra and Rajasthan have indicated that Swami Asimanand, who first came into light during the anti-Christian violence in the Dangs district of Gujarat in 1998, could be the man who supplied the explosives and other material to the youths. The security agencies have also the godman’s telephonic conversations with Sadhvi Pragya Singh, a prime accused arrested for her alleged role in the Malegaon blast. Prior to the blasts at Malegaon, the swami had made calls to the sadhvi of which the Mumbai ATS have recorded conversation.
