Ratul Khan, a student from Assam, was denied the US visa earlier whereas six of his friends were allowed to visit the US. Ratul Khan was among the toppers in Class 10 and as per the state government scheme he was supposed to visit NASA. However it is alleged that because of his surname “Khan” the US officials put his visa on hold while allowing the rest to leave for the US. This sparked reactions in Assam, however Ratul’s anxiety came to an end when the US embassy granted him visa on November 21. Earlier chief minister Tarun Gogoi handed over the tickets to the students at a ceremony held a day before.
