Babri and Congress

There is no doubt that a mention of demolition of Babri Masjid on the eve of General elections amounted to instigating the Muslim community.

There is no doubt that a mention of demolition of Babri Masjid on the eve of General elections amounted to instigating the Muslim community. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should have avoided it. Some time back Digvijay Singh of Congress apologised to Muslims for the demolition of the Babri Masjid. To apologise after 17 years was nothing but a reminder to Muslims that it was “those people” who demolished the mosque.

It is as if it is the policy of Congress to perpetuate low intensity hostility between Hindus and Muslims. The Babri Masjid dispute had been the reason for communal tension for decades. On its own Congress took no initiative to solve the matter.

The Babri Masjid dispute as well as the resultant communal divide has been freely used by Congress in harvesting votes.
