JIH Ladies Wing protest rising incidents of crime against women, demand fast track courts and stringent punishment
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Ladies Wing, Mumbai Metro along with some social organisations on December 5 staged a protest against the rape and brutal murder of a Hyderabad veterinary doctor. The social organisations that collaborated with JIH Ladies Wing Mumbai in the protest include Mahila Jagrut Seva Sangh, Bhrashtachar Vidrodhi Morcha, Pathanwadi Young Brigade, Morsi Educational Foundation, Nayi Soch Nek Irade Foundation and Nayi Roshni Foundation.
The ladies staged their protests outside railway stations in Mumbai suburb areas like Andheri, Malad, Bandra and Mira Road. They carried banners and placards with their slogans and demands. The ladies of JIH Mumbai Metro demanded ban on obscene films and alcohol as well as fast track courts and stringent punishment to put a stop on the rising incidents of atrocities against women. The most poignant slogan was “My Own Country My Own People But I am NOT Safe”. Other slogans on banners and placards included “Neither Safe Inside the Womb Nor Outside It”, “Is Rape Culture the New Indian Culture?”, “We Want Rape Free India”, “Get up and Stand up for Your Daughter, for Your Sister”, “Fight the Root Cause, Ban Pornography”, “Ban Alcohol”, “Daughter So Dear, Shattered in Tear, Did You Hear?? Her Cry in Fear!!!”, “United against Rape: Stop Communalising Rape Cases”, and “Kho rahi hai Insaniyat, Janam le rahi hai Haiwaniyat”, etc.
