With the startling dimensions of a new terror plot unfolding in the Ajmer dargah blast probe, civil rights groups on May 3 demanded immediate ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Its pracharaks were arrested for alleged involvement in the terror attack at the historic Sufi shrine in October 2007.
The activists also demanded stringent action against officers heading investigating agencies who had deliberately obfuscated the probe to hush up the involvement of RSS and its affiliates and tortured innocent Muslims to extract fake confessions from them. The activists also called for a fresh investigation into the May 2008 Jaipur serial blasts. “There is ample evidence now indicating that Abhinav Bharat functioning under the patronage of RSS carried out bomb blasts at Malegaon, Makkah Masjid and Ajmer dargah. This is nothing short of RSS pracharaks waging a war against the nation,” said Sawai Singh, convenor of Rajasthan Sadbhav Manch, at a press conference in Jaipur.
