Amla is one of the most sought after herbs that are used for prevention against aging. Amla is also one of the most widely used herbs in ayurvedic medicines and it has been proven as antioxidant, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-mutagenic, yeast inhibiting, nematicidal, anabolic, anti-hepatoxic, anti-hyperhidrosis, anti-inflammatory, anti-histaminic, anti-spasmodic, hypolipidemic, and hypotensive relieving.

It has got tremendous healing and medicinal properties and its regular intake is an antidote for many ailments or disorders like acidity, septic fever, biliary colic, vomiting, insomnia, defective vision, etc. It is widely used in making jams, pickles, chutneys, etc. Chyavanprash is also made from Amla only.
