Some Ministers and BJP leaders are demanding that the Bharat Ratna Award should be conferred upon Atal Behari Vajpayee for his valued services to the country with utmost dedication. But the fact is that the Gujarat genocides were carried out when Vajpayee was serving as the Prime Minister of the country. In my viewpoint, we cannot even think of conferring the Bharat Ratna Award to a PM whose tenure has witnessed the worst communal riots in Indian history.
Simultaneously, I ask those who favour the award for Atalji to visit the sufferers of the genocide and ask them if the Bharat Ratna be given to Vajpayee. What is more is that Vajpayee comes from RSS which is a communal organisation. I think he does not deserve the award at all from any angle.
