Months after banning manual scavenging and manual cleaning of sewers, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi is thinking to come up with a proposal to make the same a punishable offence. Harnam Singh, chairman Delhi Commission for Safai Karamcharis said the advertisements in this regard would be published by 31 August to inform or rather warn people about employing manual labour for cleaning sewer. “This will be applicable for individual homes, cleaning of septic tanks even in malls, institutional buildings and offices,” added Singh.
