Kamal Helbawi, director of the London-based Centre for Terrorism Studies, said the Egyptian government has turned into a tool in the hands of Israelis and Americans who are not happy to see the union among Muslim groups. Israelis and Americans are inciting the Egyptian government to tarnish the image of Hezbollah, Helbawi said. Helbawi noted that the Egyptian government which suffered a humiliating defeat by Israel in the past is not pleased with the victory of Hezbollah and Hamas over the Zionist regime. The Egyptian government has arrested 49 people, accusing them of having links with Hezbollah and trying to overthrow the Mubarak regime. Nasrollah has rejected the Egyptian claims that his group is involved in planning attacks aimed at destabilising Cairo. Helbawi said the Egyptian government cannot tolerate recent victories of the resistance movements over Israel and the steadfastness of Palestinians in Gaza, adding that Hosni Mubarak is at the service of Israelis and Americans who want to create disunity among Muslims.
