The state government would appoint 34,000 Urdu teachers for which written test had already been conducted, education minister PK Sahi said in the state assembly. Urdu teachers would be posted in the secondary schools with co-education. He was replying to the starred question of RJD member Dinesh Kumar Singh, who had sought opening of an Urdu secondary school for girls in Jagdishpur block under Bhojpur district.

Sahi said there was no such provision for opening a separate Urdu secondary school. He added that there was a provision for Urdu language teaching in secondary schools with co-education. Joining the issue, leader of opposition in the assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, said the government had opened Urdu primary and middle schools in the past as there was special provision for education of minority students.
