Rahul Gandhi,LoO in Lok Sabha, criticised the BJP government over Women’s Reservation Bill, alleging it is being used to alter India’s electoral structure. He described the move as an attempt to redraw the political map under the cover of women’s empowerment and termed it an anti-national act. He said the Congress would oppose it firmly.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha amid repeated disruptions, Gandhi said the proposal has no link to real empowerment. He stated that the bill is being used to change representation while presenting it as a reform. He reiterated that the opposition supports women’s reservation and is ready for its immediate implementation without conditions.

He warned against linking the bill to delimitation. He said such a move could reduce representation for southern, north eastern, and smaller states. He argued that the government is attempting to change the balance of power to maintain political strength. He cited earlier delimitation exercises in J&K and Assam as examples of concern.

Gandhi also criticised the government for neglecting marginalised communities in decision making.
