A news item on impending military strike on Syria was published in The Hindu in its Vijayawada edition on 2 September. A passage of it quotes Mr. Obama saying, “…I’m also mindful that I’m the president of the world’s oldest, constitutional democracy.” This shows either the honourable president has very poor knowledge of history or he is utterly lying. All the Islamic states have been pristine pure democracies right from the days of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be with him) and the four rightly guided caliphs. Let us note that any country’s constitution need not necessarily be man-made, for calling itself constitutional democracy. We know most of today’s constitutions including that of UNO are copy cats of the latest and final Divine constitution i.e. Shari’ah.
