BRAHMIN PRIEST FACES PANCHAYAT IRE FOR INVITING MUSLIM ORPHAN

A 50-year-old Brahmin priest Lakshmikanta Chakrabarti was reportedly made to eat humble pie by the Trinamool Congress village Panchayat in Kolkata. His crime? He invited a Muslim orphan boy Sheikh Chottu over a dinner at his house where other non-Muslims were present. Taking exception to this act of generosity by the priest, elected representatives of the village publicly humiliated Chakrabarti and his family members. The Priest and his family members were forced to undergo a ritual cleansing bath. Then the Priest was asked to cut nails of his family members. As if this was not enough the, Panchayat then ordered the Priest to shave off hid head. This time, however, Chakrabarti did not bow. This irked the Panchayat as it immediately declared the public boycott of the Priest and his family.
