A high level delegation of the African Union has called upon political forces in Egypt to support the transitional roadmap in the country and include the Muslim Brotherhood in it. The head of the delegation, former Malian President Alpha Omar Konare met Egyptian leaders in Cairo and insisted that Muslim Brotherhood must be a part of the political transition in the country. The Islamist group has refused to enter into a dialogue with the interim regime saying it doesn’t recognise the legitimacy of the new Govt. The African AU delegation also met the Grand Imam of Al Azhar and the Pope of the Coptic Church along with the representatives from National Council of Human Rights, youth movements and political parties during its visit to Egypt. AU had suspended Egypt from its membership on 5 July after the ouster of Morsi.
