As a national political party BSP is quite capable of defeating the communal forces and the electorate in Telangana is secular; they will not allow any communal party to come to power in the ensuing assembly elections,” says Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Telangana state president of Bahujan Samaj Party in an exclusive interview to Radiance.

Dr Kumar was an IPS officer and has an illustrious administrative career prior to his plunge into active electoral politics. During a rally in Telangana, BSP chief Mayawati declared Dr Kumar as the party’s CM candidate in Telangana state.

He is on his statewide yatra and reaching out to people at the grassroots level, trying to know their issues.

Speaking exclusively to Radiance in his party office in Hyderabad, Dr Kumar claimed that his party will field around 10 Muslim candidates for the Telangana assembly in proportion to the Muslim population in the state, which is around 12.7 percent in Telangana, according to India Census 2011.

On a question about BSP not becoming part of any secular alliance like the newly formed INDIA, he replied that BSP is the only secular party which is bound to protect the Constitution and not allow BJP to come to power.

He also said any other national party is keeping the Bahujan Samaj into a state of perpetual hunger while BSP wants to empower weaker citizens and make them capable to rule.

State of Telangana is going to polls on November 30 while the counting of votes is scheduled on December 03, 2023.
