Called A Tile for Seville, a new campaign has been launched by a number of Malay singers and artists to help sponsor the funding needed for the building of a new mosque in Seville. Launched on 24 May, the campaign brings together a number of artists from Malaysia including Fynn Jamal, Farah Fauzana and a number of locally reknown artists and aims to last for six months with hopes to take the message worldwide.
The campaign designed with ukwahforummah.com in collaboration with VisitalAndalus.es. and began with a great start with a host of attendees. The total cost of the purchase of land along with the construction of a mosque is expected to be around $18 million Euro. Last year, the matter of not having any mosque in Seville was expressed by Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang Abu Zahar after receiving a courtesy call from Spain’s Granada Mosque president Malik Abderahman and the Foundation of Seville Mosque director Ibrahim Hernandez.
Mr Abderrahman had expressed his intention to seek formal financial assistance from Malaysians including from the public and private sectors in building the €17 million mosque. “As for me, some of my colleagues in Parliament and I will try our best to help them. We will consider our small contribution. This is something that comes from our heart to help Muslims in Seville to have their mosque,” he told reporters after the meeting.
