Can We Expect Justice Now?

The Ishrat Jehan story released in June 2004 itself had raised many doubts about its veracity in the minds of one and all. Now it has taken a little more than five years for the truth to be unveiled. When the victims were not captured alive, how come the police knew that they belonged to any particular organisation or about the mission they embarked upon. It is heart-rending to know that a group of some selfish people could commit such a heinous crime for the petty gains. It had the backing of the ruler who does not feel ashamed even at the ruthless killing of around 2000 people and who has been proud of killing another innocent victim of fake encounter Sohrabuddin. A poor innocent girl was picked and not only ruthlessly killed but some strangers’ names have been attributed as her companions only to tarnish her image. The 2002 riots have also been mentioned just to make the story appear true.  When the truth has been unravelled, can it at least now be expected that justice will be delivered at the earliest and not in many years.
