The Central Bureau of Investigation refused to comply with the demand of Ministry of Home Affairs to share the case diary related to the Ishrat Jahan ‘fake encounter’ case. The CBI said it has already supplied all relevant documents, including the evidence against the officials of their alleged role in the fake encounter. “But it cannot share the case diary as it can only be produced before the court concerned,” said a senior officer of agency.

The CBI reportedly sought legal advice on whether to share the Ishrat case diary with the Home Ministry.  After legal experts advised against sharing, the agency has decided to formally register its objection to the ministry’s demand.
