The Central Bureau of Investigation is likely to approach the Gujarat High Court over Union Government’s dilly-dallying attitude to provide the files important to carry on the investigation of the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. According to a senior officer of the CBI, the bureau knows the complicity of the Intelligence Director Rajindra Kumar but it needs some files which are with Union Home Ministry so as to prove its allegations. Recently, the Ministry has declined the request of the CBI to access those files saying they are sensitive. The CBI also suspects that the affidavit filed by the state government in Gujarat High Court after the staged encounter of Ishrat Jahan and three others was prepared by Kumar himself. The affidavit had justified the encounter and strongly opposed the CBI probe into the case. It is pertaining to note here that the Gujarat High Court and not the Union Government is monitoring the CBI in the case.
