The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has readied its report to the Calcutta High Court on the Rizwanur Rehman case. The report recommends charging at least seven persons with abetting Rizwan’s suicide including Priyanka’s father Ashok Todi and her uncle Pradeep Todi. It also indicts four police officers including two of the IPS cadre as well as ACP Sukanti Chakraborty and Sub Inspector Krishnendu Das of Kolkata Police.
The report also names Pappu, a man who reportedly runs an NGO and had first tried to mediate and then threatened Rizwanur in an attempt to separate Rizwan and his wife Priyanka. The report will be submitted to the Calcutta High Court on January 8.
A graphics designer, Rizwanur Rehman had married Priyanka Todi, daughter of industrialist Ashok Todi, under the Special Marriage Act on August 18, 2007.
