A Travelling Ticket Inspector from Central Railway has recorded ticket checking earnings above Rs.1 crore during the current financial year. The achievement marks the first instance of such revenue collection by a ticket inspector in the Mumbai Division.
Mohammed Shams Chand, a TTI from the Open Detail Batch in the Mumbai Division, recorded ticket checking earnings of Rs.1,00,38,505. Railway officials reported that he detected 11,483 cases of ticketless travel between April 1, 2025 and March 15, 2026.
Central Railway officials stated that the effort helped reduce ticketless travel and protected railway revenue. Authorities also noted that the performance set a benchmark within the ticket checking workforce.
Central Railway urged passengers to travel with valid tickets obtained through authorised channels. These include station booking counters, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines, and the official website of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
Passengers also have access to ticket booking through the Rail One mobile application. Railway authorities stated that strict enforcement against ticketless travel remains a priority within the system.Officials said regular ticket checks support orderly travel conditions for passengers.
The achievement by Mohammed Shams Chand highlights the role of ticket inspectors in maintaining compliance within one of the busiest railway divisions in the country.
