The Union Government on July 27 informed the Rajya Sabha that nearly 8 lakh waqf properties have been initiated for digitisation under the UMEED Central Portal-2025, while over 53,900 encroached waqf properties have been uploaded by State and Union Territory Waqf Boards. The information was provided by the Ministry of Minority Affairs in response to an unstarred question raised by RJD MP Prof. Manoj Kumar Jha.
Prof. Jha had sought details regarding the status of digitisation of waqf properties across the country through the Waqf Assets Management System of India (WAMSI) portal, the number of waqf properties registered, encroachments by private and government entities, revenue generated from waqf properties during the previous financial year, and measures proposed to remove illegal encroachments.
Replying on behalf of the Government, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that 7,99,027 waqf properties had been initiated for uploading on the UMEED Central Portal as of July 21, 2026.Of these, 6,17,192 properties have already been validated and approved by the designated approvers. Another 91,275 properties remain pending at different stages of uploading, while 90,560 properties have been rejected during the verification process.
The Minister stated that state-wise details regarding the status of properties at the Maker, Checker and Approver stages are available in the public domain through the UMEED Central Portal.
