A local court in Lucknow, hearing the Babri Masjid demolition case, fixed July 13 as date for framing of charges on remaining 23 persons out of the 49 total accused in the offence. Among these, 15 were present before the court on June 29 and exemption applications were moved on behalf of six other accused as they could not present before the court. Two other accused were absent. CBI Counsel K.P. Singh told reporters that special ADJ (Ayodhya Prakran) Vireendra Kumar fixed July 13 as next date of hearing. In 2001, the same court had dropped the proceedings of this case against 21 persons including Hindutva leaders L.K. Advani, Kalyan Singh and Bal Thackeray.
