At a special felicitation ceremony held at the IMA Hall in Coimbatore on May 7, the District Collector of Coimbatore presented awards and certificates to government employees, social organisations, NGOs, and individuals who made outstanding contributions toward voter awareness and increasing public participation during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections.
Abdul Hakeem (Secretary, JIH Coimbatore, and President, Kuniyamuthur Residents Welfare Association), Nisar (Secretary, Subbulakshmi Nagar Association), Robin (ECM, Kuniyamuthur Nagar Association), Ansari (Solidarity Youth Movement), and Mohamed Al Baheem (SIO) were honoured for successfully coordinating the “100% Voter Awareness Campaign” and for conducting door-to-door outreach to educate people about the importance of voting.
The voter turnout in Coimbatore district, which was around 68% in the previous election, increased significantly to 85% in this election. Everyone proudly acknowledged that this remarkable rise was largely due to door-to-door awareness campaigns, voter rallies, and collective efforts of social organisations.
During the event, which saw participation from several social organisations, government officials, youth groups, and voluntary organisations, the District Collector praised the dedication and social responsibility demonstrated by all participants. It became a memorable occasion for everyone who worked toward voter awareness.
