It is very hideous that every now and then we indulge in aping the west blindly. We must now distinguish between ‘westernisation’ and ‘modernisation’ as both are not synonymous. Before giving up our Indian traditions and ancestral values if we decide to opt for the homosexual rights in India, we must also have a look over the societal predicaments of the countries that have preceded us in legalising the truly “unnatural sex”. If we are ready to bear destruction of family system, happy marital life, secure childhood under the aegis of parents – in short – destruction of the erstwhile social fabric of our nation plus the curse of a plethora of sexual and psychological diseases, we can surely opt for legalisation of homosexuality while keeping in mind that it will be the ‘collective suicide’ of our society and nation.
