The Union Government, on 26 March, instituted a committee to look into the matter of increasing rate of crimes done under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicants and to suggest it if banning the intoxicants would reduce the crimes. The committee would also find out the sources where the youths get intoxicants from. The government says its motive behind instituting the committee is to reduce the demand of intoxicant and other substances injurious to health. The committee presented recently its first presentation before the Ministry of Social Justice and Welfare. The committee consists of the members from Medical Colleges, Narcotics Control Bureau and Drug Addict Rehab Centre. The committee is expected to submit its report in six months.
