Video clips displayed by various newspapers are disturbing and require immediate attention of the government to reform the police force all across the country. Although the chief minister of Maharashtra has said that there are communal elements in the police force but so far little has been done to ensure that instead of becoming destroyer they become protector of citizens which they are supposed to do so and it is their moral duty to provide security and to establish a sense of security in the masses. But the clippings narrate altogether a different mindset of our police force. There might be only few communal elements but it has to be addressed sooner to establish confidence of the people. The call must come from civil society and media for an overhaul of the police force in order to establish trust among common people.
