COMMUNAL TENSION IN AZAMGARH

Communal tension prevailed in Muhammadpur town of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh on 24 February. One person was killed while another sustained gunshot injury during the clash. Tension was started over construction of a platform around a banyan tree where allegedly idols have been worshipped for several years. Three cross FIRs have been lodged in the wake of the incident.
