Patna, Feb. 18: At least two cities of Bihar – Bhagalpur and Darbhanga – witnessed tension during the idol immersion procession after Saraswati Puja during the last couple of days. The administration was forced to block the internet services in Darbhanga.

In Bhagalpur, two communities clashed during the idol immersion procession at Tahbalpur Mandal under Lodipur police station on Friday night. Persons from both communities got injured in the clash and are being treated in local hospitals. The clash broke out over the route of the procession. Locals alleged that police were not alert as the procession was going as late as 11 P.M.

Bhagalpur DM Nawal Kishor Choudhary has ordered an investigation into the clash and asked the police to take strong action against the miscreants. The district administration deployed heavy police force in the disturbed area.

On the other hand, the state home department on Friday ordered to block internet services till 19th February in Darbhanga. Two villages – Bahera under Bahera police station and Muriyia under Bhalpatti police station – witnessed stonepelting during the idol immersion procession. According to the police, more than 50 persons have been arrested in this connection.
