The Minister of Home Affairs is planning to introduce a revised Communal Violence Bill with the title ‘Communal Violence (Prevention and Control) Act, 2013’ during the upcoming winter session of the Parliament in December, but there are least chances of its clearance as the main opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party, has termed the Bill as draconian and minority-appeasement. The BJP has earlier said on many occasions that the Bill pre-supposes that the majority community has always been on the wrong side in every act of communal uprising. The Bill has been pending for more than seven years and both parties ruling and opposition blame each other for non-passage of the same.
