This is in regard to the cover story “Depreciation of Rupee Symptom of a Bigger Disease” Radiance (8-14 September). I really appreciate the content of this article and wish this article published in mainstream newspapers and magazines. The use of simple language, particularly which is in contradiction to the use of complex economic terms in mainstream newspapers, to describe the current economic condition in our country and suggestions to improve them is quite impressive.

It is a sweet coincidence that our finance minister has taken a step to increase the import duty of gold by 5% in a very much similar context as to what you have written about import of gold in your article. Also, I would like to add that if India takes up an initiative and muster courage in the involvement of rupee exchange in SAARC and BRICS countries, the dependence on US dollar would have had reduced to a greater extent.
