An alleged attempt to erase around 30 members of a Muslim family from the electoral roll in Hyderabad’s Musheerabad has triggered a complaint to Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy. Congress alleges that Form-7 applications were used to seek their removal. The Oct. 1complaint was filed by Pulipati Rajesh Kumar, chairman of TPCC’s Election Commission Coordination Committee, and Mohd Wajid Hussain.
The complaint names S Balachander, alias Balu, a BJP booth-level agent for polling booth No. 210, in connection with the disputed Form-7 applications. Congress BLA Shafuddin and around 30 members of his family were identified as those whose names were sought to be deleted.
Congress alleged that Form-7 applications had been prepared and printed in advance, rather than independently filled out by the individuals listed as applicants. The party has asked the EC to preserve the original applications and verify signatures, handwriting, dates, mobile numbers, Photo Identity Cards, and supporting documents.
They also sought statements from the people named as applicants to confirm whether they personally prepared, signed, and submitted the Form-7 applications. Election officials were asked to examine whether the applications share common formatting or handwriting that points to a single common source, and whether similar Form-7 applications had been submitted targeting other eligible voters.
