Taking strong exception to the Veerappa Moily report on Darul Uloom Deoband, Director Dr. Zakir Husain Institute of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia Professor Akhtarul Wasey asked the Congress to apologise to Muslims for this absurd report. Prof. Wasey was speaking at a National Unity Convention organised by All India Tanzeem Ulema-i-Haq (AITUH) held at Jamia Millia Islamia on January 14.
“Congress must bear in mind that had it not been for the Darul Uloom Deoband it would never ever had been able to get the tag of a secular party. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the Congress and Sonia Gandhi to apologise to the Muslims for Moily Report that tarnishes the image of Darul Uloom,” emphasised Prof. Wasey.
